The first
time I had plantains was in 2013 at the Alafia Festival in Hamburg (http://www.alafia.de/). We missed it in 2014 (, because
we were in Rome and totally fell in love with the city), but I still remembered
the plantains. They were so yummy. At the festival, they had fried them in big
pans and there were all kinds of little stands where you could try new food and
leave donations. When I was shopping at the Asian food store recently I found
plantains and bought some. Then I searched for a few tips on how to make them.
And, voila, here’s my recipe for plantains with salt, pepper, garlic and chili.
Super simple, but that’s all it takes sometimes. Enjoy!
Hoot, hoot! It's so goood.

Tomato Coconut Orange Soup
So many
things have been going on and when life gets hectic, you just want your food to
be simple yet delicious. That’s why I came up with this soup. It can be put together
in just five minutes and then you can let it simmer for 20 minutes, while you
just relax on the couch and watch your favorite show, a movie or just cuddle up
with your pets. Mmmmh, nice.

The best way to end the old and start the new year: Amelia Rose
There are
several reasons why I haven’t written a new entry in the past weeks, but none
really matter now.
This is by far the best news for the old but also for the
new year: On December 31, 2014 at 11:10 a.m. my sister and brother-in-law’s
first child was born. A precious little baby girl called Amelia Rose. Everyone
is happy and healthy. We all cried a lot of happy tears and I cannot wait to
book my ticket to visit them.
And now I’m
super motivated to blog more often again. Auntie Selina is gonna cook and bake,
crochet and get all crafty.
Hello, 2015. Hello, my little niece. This will be a
good year!

Penguin Cookies
It’s
November and that means in my world: It’s time to make cookies. I love
decorations and baking for Christmas, so of course I have some cute cookie
cutters. And I just wanted to try them out. This one is new and it was so much
fun to use it. In the end, who doesn’t just love penguins? Well, I don’t wanna
know… You just have fun now! PENGUINS!

For the English readers: Please note that the video is in German. That's why this post is in German. I will post more information in English soon.

Chocolate Cherry Coconut Cake Pops
Sooo, last
week was pretty full. We had a team breakfast on Friday and it was super yummy.
As we had a lot of little events we wanted to celebrate – two years at the
company for me, yay – we all brought a little something to share. I made vegan
chocolate cherry cake pops. The best thing: the look on my colleague’s face
when I told him they were vegan. “No milk, no eggs?” “Nope.” “Ummm, and what’s
in them?” Well, that, my friends, is something I would like to share with all
of you. So here’s the recipe for our little delight.

Take time to take your time
Do you ever
feel like you don’t have time to relax? Well, that’s exactly the time when you
should do it. Relax. Our days get so busy and we think we have to function all
the time, but we don’t. We need to take time to slow down and just be. And let
things be.

Be the reason someone smiles today...
... Or tomorrow. Or any other day.
Our teacher told us how she has been battling breast cancer for a year. I had no idea. She was still so positive and just a huge inspiration. I was overwhelmed the whole lesson and just looked at her in a whole different way. Alternative medicine. That's what she told us. And spirituality. And good, healthy food. She also taught us my new favorite pose... So thankful for this (life) lesson.
